Family & Parent Help
What family/parent involvement is required?
Our community run Little Athletics Centre runs on a family/parent power which means a weekly roster where at least one responsible adult from each athlete’s family is expected to be available each week to assist in operating centre activities. If you have never done Little Athletics before, never fear! There is age manger training on events before the start of each season and many experienced other adults to assist you while you learn the ropes and how event nights works each week. Age managers will be excluded from the Setup/Pack down rosters as they are coordinating the athletes and committee members will already be covering other operational tasks and duties. If you would like to express interest in Age managing/training or apply for a open committee role please reach out to our president with your name and contact details by emailing president@wwplac.com.au or use the “Contact us” option on the webpage.
Especially for the first few weeks while the new athletes are learning the ropes please lend a hand if you see someone unsure of what to do or if a committee member asks for your assistance to help – this will assist to have the competition nights run smoothly and stay on time.
WWPLAC is required to supply officials at championships outside of event night and the club appreciates your involvement and supporting our athletes – please ask for more information if you are keen to lend a hand and get involved.
Do I need to stay for our athletes competition night?
It is very important that each athlete has a responsible adult on site at the field and competitions AT ALL TIMES in the rare case of an accident, emergency or an injury. Responsible adults must be on hand if needed and if you are not assisting with a rostered family/adult duty then you may assist the age managers by supervising your own child/children at their events and cheering them on.
Where can I find out more about events and what to do?
There are free, quick online officials courses that provide empowering information to enhance your understanding of the differing events on offer at Little Athletics. Please review them to be able to confidently support your own children and arm yourself with the knowledge so you able to easily serve as an official on behalf of the Centre at any time. Just go to Little Athletics NSW Officials Information.
What if we are sick or away?
If you are rostered onto a parent/adult helper duty and unable to make it, please replace or swap your duty with another family or person in your age group. The duty would need to be filled by another person in your family or age group to ensure the night runs smoothly.
